  1. The students believe there is little relevance between what they are doing in school and what they will need in the future.

  2. The perceptions of the students is not in line with the teachers. They agree on the home environments being a source of problems happening at the school.Students don't value the work in the ways that teachers believe they do.

  3. There is correlation (on the lack of agreement) about the meaningfulness of the work that students are required to do.

We should look at the detention and suspension data in light of the statement in the survey; we should also see if there is correlation with retention and achievement. In addition, we should explore other options for deterring misbehavior.

The HIB data needs to be analyzed and PD should be considered based on this gap in perception data. That data correlates with students' perception of how safe the school is. This should be a priority concern for this staff and administration.

  4. Teachers have a higher/more positive perception of what they are doing. They don't seem to know/feel what their students are feeling. Is this a student friendly school?
Why do the students feel so negatively about what is going on?
Provide more opportunities for students to raise concerns about what's going on and what they think could be done.

  5. We can observe that teachers' and students' perception differ greatly regarding delivery of the curriculum. Regarding instruction, student and teachers are worlds apart. Perhaps some choice and student involvement in instructional delivery might help alleviate some of these issues. Students do not seem to feel connected with their teachers regarding instruction. We need student centered education because the students are the consumers. Bullying is also another area were perception is relative.
